December Groundbreaking Marks Official Home of Baptist Emergency Hospital Zarzamora
South San Antonio’s first new hospital in more than 30 years slated to open in 2016.
With December-like temperatures in the air, Baptist Emergency Hospital officials, along with Emerus leadership and community dignitaries, broke ground earlier this month on what will soon be the newest hospital in south San Antonio- Baptist Emergency Hospital Zarzamora.
The 38,500-square-foot micro-hospital, which is scheduled to open in late 2016, will be the the first new hospital the area has seen in more than 30 years.
Event speakers included Baptist Health System President and CEO Graham Reeve, Emerus CEO Dr. Toby Hamilton and Regional CEO for Baptist Emergency Hospital Adolfo Carrasco. Former U.S. Representative for District 23 Pete Gallego, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, Bexar County Commissioner Sergio “Chico” Rodriguez, San Antonio City Councilman Rey Saldaña and South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce’s Andres Holliday also addressed the crowd.
Baptist Emergency Hospitals will have a total of six convenient locations spread throughout the San Antonio area including Hausman, Overlook, Thousand Oaks, Westover Hills, Schertz and, soon, Zarzamora.
